Lijiang (丽江) is the historic capital of the Naxi people. Left almost derelict following a major earthquake in 1996, the past 10 years have seen the town restored, cleaned and polished up by the Cultural Tourism Agency.

Great place to stay about 10km from Lijiang central on the fringe of another old town Shuhe. The staff are wonderful and its one of those little places you just want to hang out in all day. The rooms are awesome (the bed and duvet are amazing!) but there is no door on the bathroom so squeamish people probably won't be overjoyed. ... more
We are here on our second day in the town of Lijiang. Its a pretty old place, most of the town is over 3-4 centuries old. It has been very relaxing.
