London Budget Travel Tips

  • In London it is cheaper to travel on the buses rather than the Tube, and if you get the front seat of a double decker bus you get to see where you are going, and way better value than the Tour Buses!! Tip from aboo10
  • If you are feeling adventurous, head for places like South London's Brixton Market (they also have a farmer's market first Saturday of every month), in the market itself there are some great restaurants tucked away with some great food for really affordable prices. Tip from moshimoshineko
  • London only breaks the bank if you get trapped in the tourist hot spots. If you want a reasonable night out check out some of the quirky bars in Camden...not to mention Camden market has some great bargains. Tip from MaryyyB

London

London is a cultural melting pot where people from around the world have found a home, a legacy of their colonialist past and a great contributor to its vibrant culture today: according to the 2001 census, over a quarter of the population of London was born outside the United Kingdom.

Saved money with breakfast and dinner included so I thought great value for the money I paid! Would go there again ... more

For the low price you get a clean bed, very basic facilities (which could be in better shape) and a very basic breakfast (toast & jelly or cornflakes w/ coffee or tea).

The Green Man is a really cool hostel. It's located on top of a pub so it's really easy to dander down to the bar open 24 hours and have general banter with all sorts.

Superiorly located in Chelsea. Facilities were rather basic, people fairly friendly. After I had left the UK and needed help for a forgotten item, there was little support.

Rooms were small but clean and quiet. Location is really good, only 5 mins walk from Kings Cross train station. Included breakfast which was a bonus. Only downside.

Cheap pub accommodation near the centre of London. The rooms are quite old and need refurbishment, but for the price in London, I doubt it can be beaten.
