Nairobi is the capital and largest city in Kenya. It has about 3 million inhabitants, 4 million if you add the total metropolitan area, making it the fourth largest city in Africa. It is just over 100 years old and became the capital in 1905, before which Mombasa hold this title.

I would like to warn people about Milimani Backpackers. It’s in the Lonely Planet Guidebook. As a hostel it is fine enough but I had a really negative experience with them. We saty in the Nairobi International Youth Hostel, and is dirty, smal and the restaurant isn't good. I don't recomend this place, and is not really cheaper, because in the second time that we stayed in Nirobi, we can found another places for the same price and better that this place ... more

Jobcamp House

It is a bit out of town, but great for the price. The owner is very friendly, and the house is very nice. It is secure and hospitable, but just not easy to get to Nairobi. Otherwise it is a great place. ... more

Milimani Backpackers

Dead end of Dennis pritt road, P.O Box 21005 - Hostel

We really liked milimani backpackers. It felt like a really safe little haven in nairobi. Staff were so so helpful and friendly, we were very well looked after.
