    Take a taxi/bus when going to Cancun, but get a car once you decide to travel to Playa del Carmen. Eat at La Habichuela (downtown Cancun) and be sure to take the ferry across to Isla Mujeres and visit the turtle sanctuary there.     you don't need to arrange anything in advance, go out the airport to the right and ask about ADO buses there are 2 lines one go to Cancun Downtown and the other go to Playa del Carmen, take care about your stuff as usual no special care or something...
