Enjoyed my stay here very much for the ease of public transport facilities and service within premises. While the room service staff dont speak any English whatsoever, their front desk is extremely efficient in helping out with your needs, be it helping you find map locations, or guiding you to popular shopping areas and equipped to answer questions concerning the Guangzhou metro.
Be patient and thou shall receive. Do not hasten or expect 3-5 star service for the price you're paying. Wifi is a little dodgy in rooms, works well only in lounge/reception area. Breakfast is great (Dim Sums, lots of bakery breads, sausages, veggies, rice soup, and juices/hotbeverages) with a lot of choice, and if you're a picky eater, there's a McD's 5 mins from here in The Mall. Lilac is decent and great value for the location it is in. I'd definitely stay here again.
About the Guangzhou Metro, it would help you great deal to remember or write down the exits of your choice, because it can get a little confusing and frustrating.
