Hi Emma I'd recommend staying in a hostel in one of the suburbs, rather than the city centre, when you arrive; Ponsonby is a lovely leafy suburb and has loads of bars, restaurants and take-aways. It's a 20 minute walk into the city or a 5-10 minute bus ride. Parnell and Mt Eden are both nice ...

I would recommend staying in one of the suburbs such as Ponsonby, Parnell or Mt Eden. All are nice, leafy suburbs close to the city.
