Konichiwa!

After a few tears at the airport - by one of us anyway we started our long awaited first leg of the world tour

The journey was long and sleepless and i think it finally dawned on us what we were about to do!.... As the wheels left English tarmac, we both simultaneously turned and said 'what the hell are we doing?!'.... Rach then burst into tears. Didn't do much for Si's confidence!.. I'm sure this won't be the first time we ask this question but for now our shrugged shoulders and smiles were enough for both of us to know we were doing the right thing.

On an attempt to be cultural....Rach thought it was a good idea to start eating the plane food with chopsticks.. however, we both now agree, that even the Japanese probably wouldn't attempt using chopsticks for a fry up!

After two train journeys and a subway later, not the food type! We were passed out in our Ryokan - a matress on the floor of our small matted room. No shoes allowed. Slippers and robe compulsory. Not five star but very sweet!

Now heading out into the humid night for some culinary delights!
