Rafting and Boozing in the Rockies

When my friend Gillian announced she was coming to visit this summer, I decided the time was ripe for a white water rafting trip. Neither of us had ever been before, but I asked around and was recommended River Runners in Buena Vista Colorado. It's a two to two and a half hour trip from Denver, and we took the 9:30 am half day trip (which meant quite an early morning and conversations consisting of grunting and pointing until coffee was found). It was fantastic. The River Runners staff was nice, the boats are launched right from their complex on the river. We were able to rent some splash jackets and along with swimsuits and shorts were just fine on the river.
The most severe injury sustained was a sunburned part in the hair, and a couple broken fingernails. Gillian and I both found that the soreness set in in the hips and butt more than the upper body. We adopted a quite attractive waddle for the next couple

I spent several days in London, mucking about and seeing some of the sights with my family, then we headed off on a self-guided tour of Southern England (Devon, Cornwall, Cotswolds, etc.). Cornwall is where I want to retire in a tiny cottage by the sea.
