Wellington Hostel review: Base Wellington

Sweet as! I stayed here for about 2 and a half months doing the work for accommodation. The bar in the basement is awesome, free pool almost all the time, wednesdays are $4 nights...crazy. most of the staff is pretty cool. there are a couple weirdos as long termers but over most of the people that seem to pass through are pretty cool. lots of south americans here...good people. good times. I think it's expensive though. but the location is crazy good. it's right around the corner from the establishment, maya, minibar, lots, vespa, all the great bars in town.
that being said wellington is tiny so all of the hostels are no more than a 5 minute walk from most of these bars, it's just that base is about a minute away.
it's also right down the street from the supermarket.

Coffs Harbour Hostel review: Aussitel Backpackers

This is a tough one, on one hand it sucked because they would tell you to go to your room and be quiet at 10pm or to go across the street and sit in the park and risk getting fined by the police for drinking...if you were drinking...which we were. I met a lot of cool people here and one night we were laughing real loud and they came out and threatened to kick us out if it happened again!

but on the other hand they organize a lot of day trips and activities for the people in the hostel. more so than any other hostel I've ever been to. they even drive you to places for free. it's really nice.

overall I'd probably stay here again. Just be prepared to go to sleep early here. you are not going to be doing to much partying here.

Surfers Paradise Hostel review: Backpackers In Paradise

This place can suck it!

It's a fully licensed bar so you can not bring alcohol on the premises. they turn the TV off around 7:30pm to get people to go to the clubs. They then harass the guest to go to the clubs at a "discounted price." You cannot be in the lounge areas past 10pm and you cannot talk loud either. It's a complete downer. This place exists only to force people into the overpriced clubs.

Also one of the guys who was a security guard there got drunk on his day off and yelled at me for 15 minutes for being american.

When it's all said and done I stayed there for 6 days, because I met a lot of cool people there that I ended up traveling with for a while.

The only other reason to stay here is because it's real close to the city center...which really isn't that cool.
