Ma Maison Hotel with the hotel's proprietress, Natasha Long

My final night in Vietnam was spent at the brand new, Ma Maison Hotel in Saigon, where I was met with a tall glass of passion fruit juice by Natasha. I only had a few hours between the inbound flight from Dalat and my outbound flights to Taiwan and the USA, so I needed a little luxury to send me on my way - it was a treat to be pampered by Ms. Long and her wonderful staff.

Hanoi Hotel review: Especen Hotel

Overall, an excellent budget hotel! It was my pleasure to stay at the Especen Hotel for 2 nights recently - what a fantastic room for $25. (wrap around windows and balcony) - very large rooms and everything was in order. I will be back at the Especen when next in Hanoi.

Hanoi Hotel review: Classic I Hotel

Since I have stayed in and enjoyed another Sunshine Hotel in Hanoi (the Gia Thinh) I assumed it would be ok to spend 1 night in a sister hotel, the Classic I. How wrong I was. My room was a disaster: a broken window, a broken toilet, and old TV, an old fridge, a bathtub without a plug, no electronic safe, an aging computer that could not be connected to the internet, etc., and they actually wanted $30. for this disaster. When I demanded a refund and was refused, I ended my relationship with Sunshine Hotels.

Hoi An Hotel review: Dai Long Hotel

If you want a basic room in a good location with a really friendly staff, the Dai Long is your hotel. Only hotel on my entire trip with a mozzie net, and the room was quite large and clean. No breakfast here, but Hoi An is loaded with good food (I suggest the Bo Bo Cafe).
