A Family Affair

Like Chevy Chase and crew in National Lampoon’s European vacation, the Sampiero family (and Joe) had its share of now-hilarious debacles as we traversed Western Europe by car, boat, train and plane. After a romantic 24 hour escapade in Venice and an amazing U2 show in Milan, we met Danielle’s fam in London and were ready for a chilled-out time…not exactly the case, but fun nonetheless. Running through train stations with too many bags in hand was a highlight as was almost missing the cruise ship in Oslo and the fire drill at Gatwick while waiting for our 5 hour delayed Easy Jet flight. Danielle’s father affectionately coined the low-cost airline “F-up Jet”, which was pretty accurate. Arriving in Lake Como at 3am was a small miracle… good thing we had Romanian drivers sent by THE man of Milano, Vito Lupo, who like the man in the Dos Equis commercials, lives vicariously…through himself! Subsequently “living la Vito Lupo” entailed cruising in a big body Bentley, drinking 20yr aged wine,
