Citizenship: USAI've been married to the same wonderful guy for 26 years and we have 2 grown children (ages 20 and 25).
I've traveled to France (Paris, Nice & Provence), Africa (Senegal and The Gambia in West Africa), Italy (Rome, Florence, Venice, Lucca, Pisa), Mexico (only in the two northern states of Sonora and Baja California), and through most of the United States.
I speak enough Mandinka, Italian, and Polish to be completely useless in trying to communicate in those languages. For example, in Polish I cannot do much more than count to 20 and say "twenty airports." How useful is that? My Spanish and French are at very elemental levels, but good enough to get around.
The places I most want to visit next are Poland, India, Ireland, China, and Vietnam.
Hobbies:Traveling, doing crossword puzzles and reading are my only real hobbies other than photography. I love to read about different places around the world I'd like to visit!
Favourite places:Florence, Italy; Rome, Italy; Lucca, Italy; Banjul, The Gambia; Dakar, Senegal; Goree Island, Senegal; Nice, France; Paris, France; Guaymas, Mexico; Magdalena, Mexico; Hermosillo, Mexico; Caborca, Mexico; Navajoa, Mexico; San Carlos, Mexico; San Francisco, USA; Washington DC, USA; San Diego, USA

It’s really only one floor, with a couple rooms of paintings on another floor, but there was sooooo much walking and so much art to stop and look at, that our feet were more sore that night than they have been since we started this trip.
Rick Steves calls the Uffizi Museum the "greatest collection of Italian paintings anywhere." The art was phenomenal. There were three corridors of sculptures that we walked through first. Don’t ask me to name even one of them, because I can’t remember the artists or the names of the sculptures. Saying, "They were really cool," doesn’t really sum it up, but that’s pretty much all I can manage right now.
The rooms of paintings went in this order: Early Italian, Botticelli and Leonardo da Vinci, Venus de Medici, Northern Renaissance, High Renaissance, and Baroque. My favorite painting was Botticelli’s "Birth of Venus." There was also an El

Visiting: Italy.
I can recommend specific lodging options in Rome, Florence and Venice as well as transportation recommendations. I spent one week in Rome, one week in Venice, and three weeks in Florence - so my best advice on local info will be for Florence.
