Citizenship: Brazil

Occupation: Tourism journalist
About Pluriacqua:

I am both a journalist and a holistic therapist. In journalism, I write about tourism and South American things. In therapies, I practice Ayurvedic Massage, Reiki and Watsu. At Iguassu Falls I lead a project called Creative Mist that works for peace, well-being and reconnection with our bodies, fellow people and Nature. I am even finishing a book on that. I really would like to hear from like-minded people and help them in case they need info on such matters down here.

Hobbies:

Sea Kayaking down major rivers; skydiving -though I haven't been jumping for a long time; diving, nature watching, birds, meditating, meeting people, fat-tire biking, looking at the starry night sky.

Favourite places:

The Amazon ranks first in my top-ten list. I have lived there for ten years. On the Brazil-Colombia-Peru border where I worked as a tourist guide, translator, interpreter etc. I have had great experiences and adventures there like kayaking down the Amazon for 25 days; sleeping in the jungle; having visions and so on. Next is the Pantanal where I lived for two years and worked as a guide. My strong point in the Pantanal were the birds and kayaking to see them. I also had fun to paddle through hundreds of caymans. I have also been to the Andes from Bolivia to Colombia where I also had great experiences and really learnt a lot. The Brazilian Cerrado vegetation around Brasilia is also very close to my heart as are the Iguassu Falls and surrounding jungle. I presently live about 3 hours from Iguassu Falls. Soon I will tell what I am doing there and what I may offer to travellers. Cheers and Peace!

Bus travel in South America

I am a travel helper for Brazil mainly and South America in general. South America is famous for long and often uncomfortable bus trips. My purpose in this first entry of mine in my new blog is to let you know about sites of main bus companies serving the area. I have travelled with these companies several times.

1) Rio de Janeiro - Buenos Aires with Crucero del Norte
2) Rio de Janeiro - Buenos Aires with Pluma

You can use Pluma to travel from Rio de Janeiro to Foz do Iguaçu and Crucero del Norte from Rio de Janeiro to Puerto Iguazú - both cities are on the Brazil - Argentina, Border. Pluma also travels to Asuncion, Paraguay. All these buses pass through São Paulo unless otherwise specified. If you are in Foz do Iguaçu and want to travel to Buenos Aires by bus you can take the Crucero del Norte from Foz do Iguaçu.

Excluding border formalities, once on the Argentine side, the trip is faster, more relaxing and th

I was on the Colombian Amazon. The city was Leticia. On the Brazil,Peru Colombia Triple Border. I boarded a Peruvian River Boat to a point in between Leticia and Iquitos (Peru). From there I boarded a black, two-seat-kayak with a friend from the USA, called David Rand. David had brouht the kayak with him from America. During this whole period we went through great adventures. The dangerous part was when we were held against our will on the Colombian shore of the small Atacuari River. The area hid some cocaine laboratories. Since I spoke Spanish and Portuguese I negotiated our "exit permit". But anyway we spent five days there. Paddling down the Mighty Amazon has been one of my greatest experiences in life. It's been a long time ago. But memories still remain. I have taken other kayak trips down some other rivers but I will tell that later. Cheers!

South America

People planning to visit South America and need information I will always know something that can be of help to them like hotels, bus lines to wierd or far-away places mainly in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and border areas. Since I live on the border I have access to three countries. Would you like to go from Iguassu Falls to the Amazon by bus? Or to Patagonia, I can help with reservations, contacts and so on.
