I arrived in Auckland on the 15th November after loosing a day on the 12 hour flight from LA. I was picked up at Auckland by my uncle who struggled to recognize me which is probably not surprising considering I hadn’t seen him for 15 years. We had a quick drive around Auckland before heading up to the north Islands. Now the house where my uncle and his family live is in the very small neighborhood called Opua which is near the more familiar town of Piahia. My first day involved an 8km hike through Opua forest which leads the way to Piahia, The walk took about 3 hours so upon arriving in Pahia I stopped of at a nice looking burger bar for a beer or 3 as it turned out and a steak burger. I then got a call from my Uncle who had managed to sort me out with an afternoon free fishing, so I made my way down to the Wharf and hoped on the fishing boat on what was a very pleasant afternoon. As you can see from the picture below the afternoons fishing in the bay
was a very successful one though
