Phuket Hotel review: Squareone
I recently came back from a two week stay in Patong, of which I booked into Squareone for my stay.
I will say that I my time spent at the hotel was average/satisfactory.
I initially booked in for only 5 nights, just in case the it wasn't to my liking.
In some respects there were both good an bad points to staying at this place. One of the problems I first encountered was finding the location of the hotel.Squareone is located near the far end of Patong beach road, but isn't an easy place to find.Patong beach road can leave you a little dazzled after scoping through all the neon of hotel, bar and restaurant signs;what makes Squareone hard to spot is that it isn't actually on PTR,it is on a side turning called rat-u-thit.As I did, you may find yourself
driving around in circles for sometime before you actually find it. There is
no sign displaying its location,as it is on a side street it is not in plain sight-you will have to ask for directions. My taxi driver took nearly 45 minutes to find the place and that was after asking countless people.
The best marker you can use to find it is a sports bar on the corner of
rat-u-thit named SHAKERS.The bar staff will point you in the right direction.Squareone is also on a backstreet surrounded by building works. It isn't
too noisy, unless you are spending lots of time at the hotel in the day.
I was given a delux room for a standard room rate of 760 baht a day.
This I thought was very reasonable of them. The staff are
pleasant ,friendly and helpful with settling you in with local information.
The reception area contains a pool and bar,but it is a very small area, with
little atmosphere. For these reasons, I spent very little time there other than to use the free internet access that was provided.I found my room to be a little noisy due to the outside ventilator below
the window. The room was modern and newly furnished and had cable tv.
It was cleaned daily and that fresh towels were provided every day. After my 5 day stay, I decided that I was better off to stay put for the the whole two weeks.I found My overall experience to be pleasant and satisfacory.I have no real complaints and would say that Squareone is
worth staying at.
