Well I've been here a month now and i must say that Companies here are extremely responsive to cold calling a tipping up on site to see the QS or Project manager. Back in the UK, turning up on site and suggesting you would like to sell them natural stone or anything for that matter would be treated with a 'what?' expression followed by a swift diversion to some HQ in the middle of the North and told to fill in 4000 forms and one day, maybe, if you are lucky you may receive an opportunity to tender....maybe. I think having a positive immediate repsonse here has given me the encouragemnt to keep going and push harder and harder each day for meetings and site visits.
Now turning up on site is one thing, you can talk face to face with, usually an indian, the person in charge, generally they speak ok english and you can get the number or email of a site manager or the Qs (generally a westerner or Ozzy, south african etc..), you can tell when they havn't understood you and you can adjust
