We are loving Russia so far! The different alphabet thing is a little tricky for navigation and ordering food in a restaurant, but there have been no major mishaps yet.

On our first day here we walked down Nevsky prospekt (the main drag) after walking for about 40 minutes with all our gear and rather lost. It was an early night!

On Sunday we took a bus tour to get oriented with the place, then we went to see the gorgeous Church on the Spilled Blood (gory eh--who else builds churches on the site of murders?) and Kazan Cathedral. Ended the night at a Beatles tribute bar. We returned there a few nights later to see a Beatles cover band and a room full of Russians singing along in English! It was so funny.

The next day we spent at the Fortress, and the two days following at the Hermitage. I could describe it all but it would be much better if you looked through our photos! I have posted some today and I believe Colin will too.
