It's days like yesterday that make me remember why I didn't like living in Houston. Not in a bad way, but in an aha moment kind of way. Whether or not it truly was, yesterday felt like the first day of spring - absolutely and utterly brilliant. The kind of day that makes you want to just stand outside eyes closed with the sun glowing down on your face, the breeze sweeping gently past, while breathing in the fresh scent of air and earth and grass and trees. Sadly, they don't have these kinds of days in Houston, where everything is new and exciting, but that makes me appreciate it so much more. I love the changing of the seasons and never really imagined life without it.
It reminded me of something else; a note I wrote to myself on our Sustainable Peace Weekend. This was just before things started to spiral downwards here. We received them in the mail about a month later and it's hard to believe that so little time has past. Part of what I wrote to myself in my letter was this, "Remem
Rome Hostel review: The Yellow
The people here are great. My biggest complaint would be the water temperature which was insanely hot! Other than that mostly good things. The general hang out area is the Yellow Bar which also has outdoor seating and is a great place to meet people. Nice big lockers, which are fairly quiet. All the staff speak English and anything typed is written in English. 30 minutes free of internet everyday on laptops which you can check out from the front desk. It can be a bit noisy, but relatively similar to the noise level in most hostels I've stayed in. Technically no food or beverages allowed in the rooms, but the staff generally seems to overlook this. Close to Termini Station where you can catch the subway or many buses. Also within walking distance of many sights.
Wonkerer hasn't logged any travels yet.
I grew up in Iowa City, Iowa and know a good bit about most of the Midwest. I've also lived in Santa Fe, Houston, Indianapolis, New York City, Cooperstown (NY), and Holland (MI). In addition, I have travelled most of the continental U.S. by car, van, or truck, so I can answer all sorts of random questions.

I lived in the Wicklow Mountains for eight months and have traveled a lot of the island.
