Auckland Hostel review: Kiwi International Airport Hostel
A basic, soul-less motel-come-hostel located close by the Auckland International airport.
Fine for a night either side of a flight in or out of Auckland but nothing more.
Melbourne Hostel review: Melbourne International Backpackers
A huge place, very busy, hot and noisy. The only decent thing about it (in my opinion) was that it was literally in the middle of Melbourne CBD.
There was a bar downstairs where breakfast was served and had something going on most if not every night of the week.
Steer clear if you're not aged between 18-21 and don't aim to get wasted every night of the week
Brisbane Hostel review: Aussie Way Hostel
A basic, friendly hostel in an old fashioned traditional Queensland house on a residential street about 10 mins walk from the main transit centre (bus & train) and about 15 mins walk to the city center.
The hostel had fridges and ceiling fans in the dorm rooms, a nice pool, internet access (1 PC) and a pool room with TV and DVD player etc.
While we were there there were some long-term residents from Ireland, England and Germany who seemed to be there together. They were nice enough but if you're not in the mood to get drunk and smoke weed I'd give it a miss!
Overall a decent, fairly priced alternative to the bigger 'party hostels' that are all too common in Australia.
