Vancouver Hotel review: St. Clair Hotel
Stayed one night on for an interview the next day. The hallways and reception area had a lovely charm with pictures of old ships, nice architectural features and friendly front desk person. My room was simple but clean and functional and an absolute steal - $44 single (although this was last year - summer 2007.)
TV room is a bit of a stretch - tiny room (about 10ft x 6ft) with a 14" tv high up on the wall and hard, narrow wooden benches around the edge. Certainly not comfortable or relaxing. I took advantage of the free library instead and curled up in bed with a book.
Only quibble was that my room was right next door to the shared bathrooms & laundry facilities. This had the convenience of me knowing when there was a bathroom free, as due to the wooden floors and heavy doors I heard every single person coming and going. The laundry facilities are closed after 10pm (I think,) so that wasn't a problem but the bathrooms were busy until around 1am and from around 6am - so I didn't get much sleep.
I'd definitely stay again, just request a room not directly next door to the bathrooms.
