Hello from Luang Prabang, Laos!

What can I say but it's just fantastic here. The people are beautiful, friendly, calm and relaxed and there is a great atmosphere all around. And I've spent a bit more time here than I thought I was going to for those reasons. It took 3 full days of travel to get here from Chang Mai in northern Thailand. We left early in the morning and there were 7 of us in the ancient air-con mini bus whose air-con didn't actually work, well not very well anyway. The hot bus trip to the Thai/Laos border town of Chang Kong was not actually that bad, taking around 6 hours that went quite quick, with a few naps and one tyre explosion (thrown in for good measure) that nearly resulted in us flying off the road at speed. It was fine in the end, but a close call. Meet a nice Aussie couple (everyone is from Melbourne here) and two Welsh dudes on the mini-bus and we all went out that night in Chang Kong
