Himalayan Healthcare in Ilam

A cool mist obscures the view of the valley and town of Ilam.
Breakfast in the canteen: chapatis with orange marmelade, creamy sweet tea.
Meeting with staff, sharing the suitcase of supplies donated from the US.
Patients at 10:30 AM so worked through to 6 PM briefly stopping for lunch on the balcony. Gyn exam takes longer than general medical exams and everything must be translated from English to Nepali then back to English. Key to future projects here will be learning some basic ob/gyn. Luckily I have a short list, English to Nepali translated for me by Soni Parajuli. The staff are all very convivial and eager to assist.
