Manila Guesthouse review: Green Mango Inn

We were only here for one night but we were very impressed with this place. It's clean and beautiful and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are a bit small, to the point that I didn't think that luggage for 6 people would actually fit in the 6-person dorm we were in. Luckily there were only 3 people in it at the time. Another downside is that the coed shower rooms did not include any changing area, or even a convenient place to hang a towel, so getting out of the shower was a bit tricky. All in all I would definitely stay here again. It is close to the airport and also within walking distance of some great restaurants.

Boracay Island Hostel review: Frendz Resort Boracay

We loved this place! We stayed in a lovely 4-person dorm that had plenty of room to move around without having to constantly stow our bags away. The room was never buggy or too hot. The staff was kind and helpful, food was delicious, facilities well-built and well-maintained. I kind of wish I could just live there! It was also only a 2-minute walk from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, which makes the price of the room all the more appealing. The only downside, and it is a very small one, is that there were no hot showers (at least, not in our dorm, maybe in others), but that wasn't a problem most of the time. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Manila Hostel review: Islas 8817 Guesthouse

The folks running Islas are some of the sweetest people around. They made us feel very comfortable and at home. This hostel is located close to the airport and is very easy to find, which makes it convenient for a short stay on your way to or from elsewhere in the Philippines. The downsides were that the room didn't have screens and so was kind of buggy even when using a mosquito coil, and the water supply was unreliable. I don't think that that is a common occurence there, but it made us hesitate to stay again or to stay for longer without knowing when or whether we'd be able to take showers.
