Slept ok but not great, woke and walked less-than-charming neighborhood. Wanted to ease into Asia with a conservative breakfast and had the great fortune to stumble onto a Starbucks. At home I avoid viral chains like Starbucks which I see as culture killers and independent business killers, but overseas it's sometimes a godsend. Had a nice croissant, OJ and banana.
While eating, a 20-something Sikh guy wearing a turban and with an intense stare approached me and asked if he could sit down. I said yes, and he proceeded to "guess" that I am a rich man, a simple man, my fav color is blue, I have been planning much with little success, but December would be good. No doubt this was his standard fortune-teller routine used on tourists, but his guesses were largely accurate. He was from Amritsar in India, center of Sikhdom, and asked if I had been to India. I said no but I was going there tomorrow. He found this startling news.
