During my early years in life, my parents would always scare me with the idea of taking me back to Cambodia... and the response I'd make every time was a disgruntled and disgusted look. Back then I saw Cambodia through a narrow minded Australian born child's view, where there was nothing appealing with a country savaged by war and poverty.
It wasn't until 2001, that my parents literally confirmed and wasn't joking, that they had booked a family flight out to Cambodia for Christmas. Upon this announcement I was a bit puzzled and excited at the same time. Instead of looking at the bad side I began to do a bit of research. with this research I began to grow an interested in my cultural roots. I remembered spending hours on end searching up on the internet looking for articles and any facts I could find about the "History of Cambodia".
