Citizenship: USAI am Charles Spencer from Las Vegas NV USA, and my wife's name is Zandra from Chile. We met about four years ago, and started traveling. One of the first trips we did was around South America. We started our trip in Southern Chile, and instantly fell in Love with it. However, we decided that we should see more of the World before making up our minds about where to settle.
So, we lived in the States for a while, followed by a year in Europe finishing Graduate School. Our last year out, was spent teaching at a University in Nanjing China (big hello to our friends in China!).
Finally, after spending some time looking around Southern Chile, we decided to settle in Temuco. I think I am the one to blame for choosing this region, over the many other incredible places in Southern Chile. I was born in Minnesota in the United States, and this area most reminds me of Minnesota minus the mosquitoes and the 30 below temperatures.
We also felt that this region had some of the greatest unexploited (in the good sense) potential of the places we had seen around Southern Chile. We are not sure this is where we will be 10 years from now, but we are sure it will be some where in Southern Chile. So, we decided to start

I have been involved in a few hiking trail projects over the years. Recently I worked on a site for the Munger Trail in the States, the Longest Paved bike trail in the World. Well at All Southern Chile, when we found out about the Sendero de Chile, we thought we would have to cover it. The Sendero De Chile is, as far as we know, one of the longest hiking trail systems in the World. There is 7,800 km planned, and 1,800 km complete. It is designed to connect a series of existing trail loops in Chile. Together it will stretch, unbroken from the north of Chile to the southern tip of the country. All Southern Chile mostly sticks to issues in the south of Chile. However, we decided to include information related to the trail that covers all of Chile, because the information in English on Sender de Chile is very limited. We are working with the official Chilean government site sendero.cl, to translate all the maps and information. How
