Hangzhou Hostel review: Hangzhou International Youth Hostel

Location was right on the lake, near some bars, restaurants and a coffeeshop. Group dorms were fine, but the bathrooms and showers were minimally cared for. Small courtyard restaurant. Minimal front desk services.

Shanghai Hostel review: Le Tour Traveler's Rest Youth Hostel

The twin suite has been my favorite room so far while traveling in China. Good layout, includes a desk, phone and ethernet hookup. Soothing green color scheme and Parisian feel. We found a cockroach in the bathroom when we first got here, but no problems since. Provides linen and shower shoes. Staff is helpful and friendly, and location is 10 minute walk to the subway and near plenty of restaurants for meal options.

Suzhou Hostel review: Ming Han Tang International Youth Hostel

The hostel is located right next to a touristy stretch of canal with shops, restaurants, and a place to catch a boat. The in-room wifi was a bit unreliable, but the coffeehouse was a very nice place to sit. Our room was arranged around a very nice outdoor courtyard. The bathroom was a bit leaky and cramped.
