I have been to the greatest city on the planet 4 times. The first time was during a "cultural awareness" trip with the communicty college I was attending at the time. The weather was overcast, cool, and drizzling for a good portion of the 5 days I was there. Though it was damp and cool, it didn't dampen my spirits in the least. It was love at first sight. On the first day, I did the typical "tourist" things such as immediately look up and stare at the tall sky scrapers that filled the sky and blocked the horizon. By the second day,.... I blended. I transformed my self in to a "New Yorker"... at least in my mind.
The second trip was a short 3 day jaunt with my wife who at the time worked for Midway airlines which allowed us to fly for free. We flew from Raleigh to Laguardia, caught the Q33 bus to Queens and from there took the subway to Manhattan where we had reservations at a small, "lower end" hotel.
