Arizona's highest point is located in Flagstaff at Humphrey's Peak, 12,633 ft elevation. My Lithuanian friend, another friend, and myself attempted to summit this peak. This trip was at the end of April and there was still about 3 feet of snow all throughout the tree line all the way up the mountain.
We were well on route to make it to the summit when the other member of our group felt he could not make the trip. =( Therefore, we had to make an executive decision and cut across the entire mountain range and guide him to the ski slopes where he could reside down the same mountain range that consists of a ski resort. We sent him packing down the slopes of a normal ski run that would typically be open during season to wait for us down at the car. At this point we decided to summit Agassiz peak instead, its sister peak at 12,356 ft elevation.
