About john7buck:

When I was 7 my parents moved my family to an island in Micronesia for a year, which was of the "remote" variety. Little did I know at the time that this would cause a crack-like addicition to travel later in life.

In 2003-04, I spent a year traveling (6 months living, working and skiing in NZ) Tahiti-Cook Islands-Fiji-New Zealand-Australia-Argentina-Chile-Uruguay-Brazil and Panama. In 2005 I returned to South America to visit Peru and Bolivia.

The fall of 2006, took me to Southeast Asia, focusing on Malaysian Borneo and Myanmar.

I recently completed one year of teaching English in South Korea. During my year in Korea I also traveled to Japan and China and spent 6 weeks trekking in Nepal as I traveled my way home.

With the US ecomony in tatters and still chasing the travel dragon, I now find myself back in Korea saving more money to do what else. . . travel some more.

Hobbies:

Skiing, traveling, hiking, whitewater kayaking, fly fishing

Favourite places:

Myanmar just jumped to the front of the list, absolutely loved it there. Bario in the Kelabit Highlands of Sarawek, Borneo. Other favorites include Nepal, Japan, Argentina, Peru, Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific.

I think it began as one of those ideas that doesn't even qualify as an idea at the time. During the year I lived in New Zealand, I had moved into a flat with two Kiwi chicks who I actually spent very little time talking to. On the wall of the flat hung a poster of one of the most amazing mountain landscapes I'd ever seen. The caption read The Annapurna Circuit: Nepal. In one of the few conversations I had with either of the girls, one of them told me about how they were trying to raise money through various fundraisers in order to fund thier trip to Nepal and a trek on the Annapurna Circuit. To this day, I have no idea if they ever made it. Probably not, as their means of "fundraising" involved asking people to "sponsor" them. What sponsors would receive in return was anybody's guess.

I hope they did make it, but regardless, the vision from that poster has somehow stuck with me over the
