This morning after breakfast we caught the subway system into the city of Rome which was a very interesting experience. Imagine 50 people waiting on the platform and then the train arrives, completely full and 50 people squeeze in so that everyone on the train ends up being squished up against the windows and we then travel several stops before exiting the train. Trains in Rome are always full. Plus you have the extra worry about security as we were told pick pocketing on the trains was extremely common - we can understand that cause you are all so close together.
When we finally arrived at the Colosseum we did a walking tour of the Roman Ruins with a local guide. Along the tour we saw such wonders as the Arch of Constantine, the Roman Forum and the Monument to Emanuele as well as hearing some of the history about the Collosseum.

Washington DC Hostel review: Hostelling International – Washington DC
We stayed here over christmas after numerous stops throughout the USA. This is by far the worst hostel we stayed in during our entire 3 1/2 month trip. The staff were beyond rude, incredibly unhelpful and quite frankly could not care less. There were no activities organised for christmas, even though numerous other visitors asked for this as there were no facilities open in the surrounding area - the other visitors ended up organising something themselves. The lifts were slow, the rooms were ridiculously hot and to top it all off we got bed bugs! Oh, and the staff couldnt have been any ruder about the whole experience. We were made to feel like filthy vermon for getting bed bugs and they refused to help us in any way. We had to wash our entire contents - at cost to us - before we could move rooms - and it was nearly midnight before we were told this - consequently we had to sleep in the lounge room. After asking for a refund for the nights accommodation - we were told it was not their policy - even after we explained the circumstance they still refused. To top it all off while we were trying to negotiate a refund the cleaners stole our clothes from the laundry as they used the same laundry to wash their uniforms and the bedlinen from the hostel! WOULD DEFINATELY NOT RECOMMEND - UNLESS YOU WANT PERMANENT SCARS!
