Roger and Linda’s Road Trip
Day One
Saturday, August 9, 2008
Mesa, Arizona to Santa Fe, New Mexico

Lisa asked me to keep a journal of our two-month road trip and e-mail it to her each day with pictures that we took that day. You don’t need to reply to this unless you want to but here’s how our first day went.We wanted to be on the road by 7:00 a.m. but that didn’t happen—too many last minute things to do. So at about 10:15, with Lily in the back, the car and car top carrier loaded we left Mesa. We had 60,250 miles on the odometer.Roger drove to Payson. Well, actually, he drove to Fountain Hill and we drove through Wendy’s and we ate on the run (I refused to make breakfast—didn’t want any dirty dishes—so we were hungry.Our next stop was just before Payson to walk Lily and let her do her thing—which was to have a barking match with a little dog.We bought gas in Payson and Roger said he only got about 14 miles
