About miaforbes:

Two kids, one large dog, time to get back on the road, but it's different now. I have to stay safe and make good choices. Like, Egypt in July. Many doubts at first, but it turned out to be my most brilliant trip ever. Where next? Brasil? Then Vietnam. Bali? Then South Africa. Then I can rest. Maybe.

Hobbies:

Singing, beaching, mountain biking, snorkelling, reading, reading, reading. Travel.

Favourite places:

Jamaica - the rooftop seaside deck of our family home.
Thailand - just about anywhere where there's no smoke and people noise.
Dahab, Red Sea, Egypt - Pure heaven.
Rock Creek, Eastern Sierras, California.

Hotel Help

Posted by miaforbes | 19th June 2007

The Accommodation link here really came through for me when all the other online travel agencies couldn't. I heard there was to be a conference in Alexandria the nights I was to be there, and 2500 rooms would be used up so IF I found anything at all, it would be VERY expensive. Here, I got the hotel I wanted, on the beach in Alexandria, for $51/night. There's no fee charged (at least, not that I can see yet), I got a written confirmation to present to the hotel, and I'm IN! Set for June 26 - my first night in Misr. Hotel Club is where the link takes you. Try it. Course, I have yet to actually test it...6 more sleeps to takeoff.

Lost Friends

Peter Bokalis(?)

Such a great "kid"....at that time. Heard from him occasionally as he finished school in Quebec. I'd love to hear how he's doing, if he's in broadcasting, and when he's going back to Greece.

We stayed in touch a long time, madly in love (that would be me, anyhow), lots of visits, best penpal, great distance (pre-email), and then I lost him. Always hard to track, working for the State Department or something, moving around. I think he married Mimi(?). My loss.
