Krakow Guesthouse review: Szeroka 33

Having paid a deposit we arrived at Scheroka 33 at our designated arrival time (1.00pm) and had both emailed and telephoned the proprietor prior to our arrival to confirm this time. When we arrived there was no one there to meet us and we were unable to enter the property. We called the contact number but there was no reply. Two hours later, having stood outside in the cold waiting, a young man called us and said he had picked up our message would be along in an hour to let us in to the property. He arrived an hour later but on entering the property he said that the room we had booked was not available and showed us into another room. This room was appalling. It was a small twin (whereas we had booked the large double) and the beds were unmade and the room yet to be cleaned and prepared since the last guests visited. We asked why the room we had booked was not available and he simply said other guests were staying there but he would see if it ewas available later in the week (we were due to stay 4 nights).
We left him for two hours and went to get something to eat so that he could clean and prepare the room but when we returned two and a half hours later, he had still not prepared or cleaned the room. He made no apology and claimed that he had been preparaing the double room for the other guests and had therfore not finished cleaning our room. When we returned that evening we found that there were no other guests, that he was in fact sleeping in the room that we had booked and there were stains on the walls and mattress of our room. We left immediately and sought pother accomodation. NEVER stay in this place - the conditions and service are appalling and the proprietor tells lies.
