Leaving New Zealand

Welcome to our new thing! 'Blogging' seems much more sophisticated than old-hat style emailing (SO last Tuesday)... so here we go. Enjoy (hopefully) and write back!
It's winter in New Zealand. Down in the south they're all having snowball fights and apres-ski, but up here in Northland it's 18-ish degrees and usually as sunny as an English June, complete with flowering trees. (I say 'usually' with one eye on the black clouds and torrential rain that's favouring us with its presence today.) Tomorrow we leave Opua, the Shambler's home for the past year, and head for open seas, and, eventually, Fiji! Of course that all depends on the weather....
We've absolutely loved coming back here! We headed straight to John and Fiss's in Auckland, where we manfully struggled with our jet lag while reaquainting ourselves with all the old haunts (mostly chandleries unfortunately) and bought ourselves a beast of a car from the backpackers car market.
