Itinerary updates.

Posted by slugtrek | 27th October 2009

Here's our current itinerary. We've changed some things. Our original plan was to fly from Bangkok to Singapore before exploring Malaysia, but it dawned on us we can save a day of travel if we just fly into Kuala Lumpur instead. It wasn't that much more expensive than a plane to Singapore. Besides, we get to skip a long day on a train that costs twice as much as trains bought in Malaysia.

Map!

Our flight is Malaysia Airlines Flight 785 that'll depart on February 4th from Bangkok at 11:05am and arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 2:15 pm.

We also booked our hostel in Bangkok. We'll be staying at the Asha Guesthouse, which is a little bit far from the main tourist attractions, but near public transportation. It's cheap, has great reviews, an English speaking staff, and it's near the Chatanchuk Weekend Market, which is one of the biggest and most famous markets in Bangkok.

London Hostel review: St. Christopher's Hammersmith

We only stayed here for one night as we passed through on our way to the airport, but we wish we could have stayed here longer! It's a great place, albeit a little removed from the center of the action. It's very clean, quiet, and sociable. There is a pub right downstairs, too, so you only have to stumble upstairs if you get too smashed.

Florence Hostel review: Ospitale Delle Rifiorenze

This is a great place to socialize and meet people. It's a little removed from the city center, but it's a fun experience. You are attached to an old church, so you'll definitely hear the bells when you stay here. The walls are super thin too (think cubicle walls), but I still highly recommend it as long as you aren't an extremely light sleeper. I loved the atmosphere here.

Naples Hostel review: Hostel Pensione Mancini

If you must go to Naples, this is a great place to stay. It's very secure and the English speaking staff have a lot of tips on staying safe in the often hectic city of Naples. It's a little noisy, but I don't think that can be avoided in the city. It's also really close to the main train station and the station the goes to Pompeii.

The view from the balcony is pretty awesome too. You can see the market downstairs and get a great feeling for the city from just a couple stories up.
