Vienna Hostel review: Hostel Ruthensteiner
Brilliant hostel, I can't fault this place at all. Wonderful owner, friendly helpful, knowledgable staff. Great atmosphere, great cheap breakfast, comfy clean beds, sink in room, clean bathrooms. Perfect. Cant wait to go back!
Berlin Hostel review: The Circus Hostel
Absolutley brilliant hostel, could not fault it although free internet would be a bonus.
Staff were excellent, very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. All you can eat breakfast for 4.50€ kept us full all day
Bled Hostel review: Back Packers Rooms
Lack of a proper reception desk is the weakest point of this hostel.Reception is a bar that closes at midnight and access to the property is by side entrance, each guest has a key.We were woken up everynight of our 3night stay by loud guests and one night had to let in 2very drunk guests (one of whom was collapsed outside drunk and had to be carried in by ambulance crew). We should not have had to do this and would not have had to if there had been a member of staff around at all hours like most other hostels. Cleanliness is not great in this hostel at all.Bar downstairs is old and shabby and toilet facilities shocking!Upstairs the rooms are fine and clean. There are 3 bathrooms, 2 of them had broken locks, my embarrased boyfriend walked in on an even more embarrased young girl as she was using the bathroom.
The bar staff, usually only 1 during the day are running around trying to serve people drinks aswell as check people in...nightmare! More staff and a proper reception would solve this. There was no breakfast served in the hostel so we presumed there would be a kitchen or at least that we would be able to buy food from the hostel but there was no such facilities...except for a sandwich at the bar but I wouldnt have eaten it anyway because of the dirt of the place.
The only things good about this hostel is the location and the price isnt bad either. Also the owner organises rafting and other activities for you. This hostel may be suited to the younger traveller who is just there for a drink session as a group of lads (aged 19-22) loved the hostel, had great fun and would love to stay there again...these were however the same group that had to be let in at 3am by us with one comatose from drink.Oh and for those who want to stay there...the train station is not a 5 min walk from the hostel..it is a 15km walk...its the BUS station that is a 5-10min walk, this is not stated clearly on the website.
