We woke up early so that we would be able to explore a bit of the Cape Point Nature reserve before it got too hot. The weather forecast for Cape Town on the day was to be clear, hot and sunny. We packed suntan lotion, a picnic lunch, bottles of water, swimming gear, towels, money, camera's and our fold up tent. There is a restaurant called the Two Oceans restaurant in the reserve, but we were keen on a simple meal at the sea.
At around 8:30am we got going, and took a scenic drive from Fish Hoek along the coast of the peninsula, through historical Simon's Town, past boulders beach and on towards the nature reserve.
We decided not to take the funicular, and to walk the 300 meters odd up to the old light house. The walk was not bad, it was a bit of an incline and we were out of breath at the top.
