Tokyo Hotel review: Weekly Mansion Akasaka
Excellent location--a nice, quiet neighbourhood, within walking distance of Roppongi, and not too far from Shibuya.
The room was spotless and well-furnished. The free internet access was excellent. The staff were not exactly fluent in English, but were able to handle the important elements without trouble.
There is no housekeeping service, but the room has a vacuum cleaner if you actually need it. A stove and basic cooking utensils were provided.
One word of caution--the building appears to be an apartment block that has been converted into a hotel, which means that the walls/doors do *not* stop sound very well (much like most Japanese apartment buildings). If your trip is of a romantic nature, please keep this in mind (the couple in the room next to me wasn't being abnormally loud, but could still be clearly heard halfway down the hall).
Overall I'd definitely stay here again.

Tokyo Hostel review: Capsule Inn Akihabara
The location is a bit far from Shibuya, Roppongi, etc. (if you're taking a cab from there late at night, it's going to cost you a fortune), but only a couple of blocks from Akihabara station.
Don't count on good English from the staff at all hours, but there was at least one staff member who spoke English well enough when I checked in.
Only stayed one night, and didn't make much use of the facilities, so I can't comment on that. The capsules are a decent width/height, but the length could be a problem for some people. I'm 5'9" (175cm) and it was *just* long enough for me to fit comfortably.
Security is not top-notch for those with large luggage--they provide you with a cord/lock to fasten it to something in the lounge area, but there is no large locker--so it's openly accessible to all, but it's right by the check-in desk, so it will be supervised at all times at least. I personally don't find this to be grounds for complaint, though, as it's a capsule hotel--it's not really geared towards travelers. The lockers are really only meant for storing a single change of clothes and a briefcase.
If a capsule hotel is what you want, then this place is good--for those new to Japan, just be sure you know what a capsule hotel actually is!
