Hey all,

I now have a job as a waiter at a restaraunt called 'Beachcombers' and a potential gig as a DJ in a local nightclub soon so all is looking good. The weather is very changeable in Melbourne, so nothing new there; generally sunny but quite chilly until the North Wind comes and with it the dry blistering heat of the outback. In the short time I've been here, I've learned alot about 'The Aussies': The majority aren't actually sunkissed adonises... they have more respect for the sun's damaging capabilites and skin cancer is rife therefore they smother themselves in cream. Their culture is based almost entirely around sport... Doesn't matter which, they love it. They have nicknames and abbreviations for just about everything, e.g the cricket stadium in melbourne (M.C.G) they feel they need to shorten to just 'G'. Some other nicknames Ive learned include 'bogan' (chav) and 'toorak tractors' (those oversized bmw's that private school mothers drive).
