Liverpool HOTEL review: Devonshire House Hotel

I stayed here during a conference as it was the cheapest option we could find for Liverpool. It was a nice, cosy place to stay. We were generally happy with it, though breakfast, if not included in the your booking was a bit over-priced (we opted for bagels). The location is about a 45min walk into town, but downhill. Most people catch taxis, or buses (apparently the connection is easy) but we found the morning walk to be quite nice. We were warned by friends to catch a taxi home at night though, as you need to walk back through some not so nice areas to get there. It was very clean and the rooms were nice and warm. The people were friendly and the service was good.

Catania GUESTHOUSE review: B&B Antico Teatro

This is a good option for budget travellers as Catania can be so expensive. The location is good, very near to the main square. We had a bit of trouble finding it when we arrived, as there is no sign, only writing above the buzzer. We couldn't work out how to go inside, so if you arrive I recommend that you straight away call the owner, as he does not live there. He will then come and let you in. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean, the only problem was the shower in the bathroom which leaks water onto the floor a lot so that the bathroom was often flooded. There is air-conditioning which was definitely a relief as we retreated to our room in the hot part of the day. I would recommend this for you if you want a comfortable place which isn't too expensive.

Trapani GUESTHOUSE review: Il Cortile Fiorito

This was a really lovely place, a perfect apartment as a base for a summer holiday. We were sad that we were only passing through and staying one night. The value was great for what you got, a really big apartment with a nice kitchen. Everything was very clean. It even had a washing machine and air-conditioning (which seems to be not as frequent in Sicily, but definitely a good thing to have when it is summer). The owners are extremely nice people, very friendly and so helpful. They waited for us outside the front door and their daughter was nice enough to take us on a walk to find an ATM as well as pointing out some nice restaurants to eat at. The location is fantastic, straight off the main street of the old part of town with heaps of yummy restaurants nearby. Next time I visit Trapani I will stay for a week!

Palermo HOSTEL review: Hostel Firenze

This was definitely the cheapest option for staying in Palermo but I would prefer to pay more rather than stay there again. The location was good if you want to be close to the city centre. And if you want to party all night it is also good since the whole street is lined with nightclubs. But if you actually want to sleep this will be almost impossible since those nightclubs play loud music all night long so the floor actually shakes a bit. There was also a huge fight at 4am in the street below our window which was a bit scary. The rooms were generally clean, but the some of the bathrooms were rather run down. No air-conditioning but fans are provided. The staff were friendly and helpful though which was nice.

Krakow GUESTHOUSE review: Pension Sun

I stayed here with two of my friends. We had a lovely three bed room with a bathroom just outside in the corridor. The location was fantastic, pretty much a <5min walk to the centre of old town. The staff were very friendly and helpful. And it was so cheap! I would really recommend staying here if you are looking for nice, budget accommodation.
