Utrecht Accommodation Reviews
Kempton Park GUESTHOUSE review: Sunrock Guesthouse
An outstanding place! This is by far the best place to stay in Kempton Park and a good base just before or after your flight, as it's just a few minutes from Jo'burg International Airport. A free pick-up and drop-off at the airport are included. Rooms are clean and comfortable and a good breakfast will start you up in the morning. Nice pool and big guest area with pool table, darts, computers, bar and braai (BBQ). Very friendly owners and great atmosphere. Can not think of something I didn't like, except leaving!
Victoria Falls GUESTHOUSE review: Pamusha Lodge
Compared to nearby (even cheaper) places in Livingstone and Kasane, this lodge is rather average. Better to spend some more money and stay somewhere nice, or opt for a real budget option (hostel). For $80 it's not that bad, but overal value is just not that great either. Room looks really old and worn down, aircon not working properly. People are friendly in general, but not very helpful. Breakfast is quite good actually and there is a decent pool, although it's not very inviting. There's a shuttle service for a small fee, otherwise it's a long and hot walk to Vic Falls!
Tupiza HOTEL review: Hotel Mitru
Although it's been a while (2006), I remember this hotel as a great budget to midrange option. The room was very clean and comfortable. Decent bed and the breakfast was ok as well. Service/friendliness and overall impression of this hotel are really good and it's the recommendation for staying in Tupiza for sure. They helped me organizing my 4-day trip to Uyuni with Tupiza Tours, which was great as well. Central and close to all the 'action' and transport.
Tirana HOTEL review: City Hotel Tirana
Great hotel, relatively central in Tirana, though still a bit of a walk to most places. Tirana is just a big place so no problem really. Some pubs and restaurants nearby, including the Irish Pub!
The people are very friendly and rooms, although not overly big, are comfortable with aircon and a great balcony to enjoy that cold beer after a hot day of walking across the city.
Breakfast is good, with fruits and fresh coffee!
One of the best value (price/quality ratio) anywhere this central in the capital of Albania!
Ulcinj HOTEL review: Dolcino
Hotel Dolcino in Ulcinj is a good mid-range option. It's away from the beach area, but on the main road that leads to/from the beach and Old Town.
Rooms are relatively big and clean and the breakfast is nice as well. Didn't have a balcony though, which is annoying when it's great weather to enjoy a cold beer outside.
It's family run, but not overly friendly. Not unfriendly as well, but I guess wherever there are more tourists (beaches nearby!), the friendliness of people working in the travel business declines.
All in all good value (price/quality ratio) and well above the low budget range.
Manaus Hostel review: Hostel Manaus
I stayed here for 4 nights in total in June 2008. The hostel is located just east of the centre, a short walk away on a side alley. Positive aspects certainly are the breakfast and the opportunity of a double room with aircon which actually worked! Great place to meet fellow travellers and there is internet access for a small fee. There is also the option of having lunch for a small price as well. People were generally friendly, although not overly. Also the owner, although nothing negative about him, was very quiet and it seemed like he didn't really enjoy it that much. But all in all, a good cheap, clean facility with no real negative things about it. There is also an option of booking tours if you like.
