Zadar GUESTHOUSE review: Kolega Guesthouse
This guesthouse is in a perfect location right in the old town, and the friendly owner will give advice about attractions etc. It's absolutely spotless, secure and very comfortable, at a bargain price. Guests have full use of the kitchen. Bathrooms are shared but as there are only a handful of rooms this isn't a problem.
Sydney HOSTEL review: Railway Square YHA
Rooms are clean and comfortable and security is very good, with swipe access for most areas. I did not find staff welcoming or friendly on reception, which I thought affected the whole vibe and was disappointed that neither WiFi or luggage storage were free. Location is convenient for central station.
Malmo HOSTEL review: STF/HI Vandrarhem Malmö City
The staff here were friendly and helpful and the location fairly central. As far as hostels go this is pretty good - a decent kitchen, good security, nice TV room and generally clean.
Brussels HOTEL review: Residence les Ecrins
This is a lovely, homely guesthouse with cosy, modern rooms and a decent continental breakfast included. The manager/owner is very friendly and helpful and will direct you to places of interest in Brussels. The location is down a quiet street in a pleasant area, a few minutes walk from the Grand Place. I would happily stay here again if I return to Brussels.
Munich HOSTEL review: Jaeger's Munich
The hostel is in a great location very close to the main station and within walking distance of Marienplatz and other attractions. The rooms were spotlessly clean and modern, breakfast is a good deal at less than 5 Euros and the bar is a decent place to have a drink.
I think the walls may be a little thin as we could hear someone snoring in the next room! Also the lift could probably do with an upgrade.
Our main gripe was that when we arrived we were given a double room instead of a twin which we had booked, and we weren't told until we got to our room. When we went back down to complain, saying that we had booked a twin, they said they didn't have one available and stated that hostel booking sites don't differentiate between double and twins, which is obviously not true! We stood our ground and were eventually given the room we had booked, but it wasn't a very pleasant start to the stay.
Galle GUESTHOUSE review: Fort Inn Guest House
A lovely, friendly, family-run guesthouse with good facilities and tasty meals. Rooms are spotless and the owners made us feel very welcome. Free internet is available on site. The guesthouse is located in the heart of the old town, within walking distance of all the main attractions.
Negombo HOSTEL review: Marine Tourist Guest House @ Negombo Beach
A friendly, clean, family run guesthouse, conveniently located along the main strip in Negombo.
Negombo GUESTHOUSE review: Ocean View Tourist Guest House
Good value for money and a fairly spacious room with hot water and a nice balcony. It was hard to tell if the bedclothes had been freshly washed or not but the rest of the room was clean. The guesthouse is located in a reasonably convenient location, around a 15-20 minute walk from most of the restaurants. Service in the guesthouse was good.
Kandy HOSTEL review: Nature Walk Resort
A clean and friendly guesthouse with nice views from the balconies. The restaurant serves tasty breakfasts and dinners and all the staff are friendly and helpful. My only criticism would be that there is no hot water in the rooms, which for the price we paid was a little disappointing. It's a little walk from the town centre or a three-wheeler will take you up there.
Cape Town HOSTEL review: The Backpack Cape Town
The hostel has good facilities and is in a convenient location for Long Street. There is a decent cafe bar on site if you don't want to cook. Staff are helpful and can book and advise on tours.
