Bhairava is an important and popular deity of the Newars People and brother of a living goddess of Kumari. There are different Bhirava in Kathmandu Valley. Aakash Bhairav means "god of the sky",lies close of Kathmandu darbar square. The temple of Akash Bhairav is one of the oldest temples of Kathmandu valley.
It was believed that people die if they speak false in front of this sculpture. So, thistemple served as the supreme court of Nepal for a long time. Most of the temples of Bhairava in Nepal are maintained by Newar priests.According to history, it is known as Yelambar who rule Nepal before.
