Tashkorgan or Tashkurgan means Stone Fortress, Stone Castle. Tashkorgan had served a long history as a major stop along the Silk Road. Ruins of the remaining stone fortress is in the middle left of this picture. The scenery and atmosphere of the grassland below the fortress was nothing but breathtaking.
