This photo was taken from the "Luang Say" on a trip up the Mekong
The water buffalo was wallowing in a ditch beside the road on Don Khong.

Cobra Whiskey
This preying mantis accompanied us (Nat, James, Ido, myself) in our tuk tuk as we toured the waterfalls and coffee plantations around Pakse.
Squeeky the monkey, shortly before assorted deeds of mayhem, biting of several of us, and the tree urination incident
Note the ubiquitos black pig wandering freely around the village, as found all across Northern and Central Lao
Those black streams are bats coming out for the night. Amazing to see it as they screached over Laura and mine's heads.
Sleeping kittens, Laos
Now what's this little monkey up to? Pinched from the bosom of his mother before he could learn a thing or two about life, this little brat is about to learn the hard & painful way that the pile before is not his favourite snack...bananas! The sale of wildlife, such as monkeys, snakes and exotic birds is a common feature at the morning market in Pakse, Laos as elsewhere in the "Country of a million elephants".
This man was hawking a pair of birds(hill mynah, a protected species),a pair of cockerel and the little monkey at the morning market in Pakse (Laos). Whenevr he moved, the little brat would spring and cling on to the man's leg for his dear life! Poaching and the sale of wildlife, found in abundance in the jungles of Attapeu, is something which the Laotian governnent is trying hard to stamp out..
wish i could have taken one home!
