Big Cypress NP, Monument Lake Campground
Mom and I finally made it to the last of the four 'corners' of the continental US. The point was actually about 3/4 of a mile down this trail, which was much too difficult for Mom, so we just took our picture at the trail head.
Here I am at the farthest NW point in the continental US. Very beautiful spot, I had trouble tearing myself away from it!
This is in the Quinault Rain Forest, by Lake Quinault. The circumference is 58'11". It was 191 feet tall, but it looks like some of the top may have been broken off.
In spite of her aversion to cold weather, Mom decided she didn't want to miss the worlds largest spruce tree!

People in Salem have built a beautiful new (but old style) carousel. Here are my Uncle Bill & Mom posing by it.
This is an asian restaruant, but also has several other menu's. The food was quite good and reasonably priced.

Another lady was out on the beach collecting rocks. Her husband and I shared some of what we'd found.
Mom really enjoyed talking with this three year old, she was waiting for Grandma to take her to her dance class.
We had a lot of fun shopping in this Merchantile. They had an interesting mix of antiques and new stuff that fit in with the old stuff quite nicely.
This was just one of the redwood tree's we saw, no labels, nothing on record as being the biggest or tallest.
Mom is still collecting sand for her friend back home. This is at Big River Beach in Mendocino, CA, on the coast.
We couldn't quite fit the RV through this tree, so figured we might as well fit us into it!
Pat was a volunteer at the visitors center. She was very well informed and quite proud of the brown pelican on display.
