Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve

About an hour and a half outside of Los Angeles there is a wonderful photographic location that should not be missed during a few weeks of late March/early April - The California State Poppy Reserve. The fields are just west of the city of Lancaster in the high desert called "The Antelope Valley". The reserve is approximately 1800 acres.

Day 161 - Rockhound SP, Cane Cholla Cactus Fruit

Unlike some other cacti, this fruit does not taste good. However, it lasts a long time and will often remain on the stems even after the cactus flowers again the following year.
