I was surprised to learn that Badlands National Park (NP) in South Dakota contains the largest protected wilderness area in the US.
Yes, we finally made it to the viewing platform and the sculpture is very well done. There is a trail up to the top of the sculpture but we did not take this.
We had to drive 25 miles on this road to get to the Badlands Loop Road (paved). Lots of washboard, mostly had to go between 5 and 15 mph. Lovely scenery, bad road for an RV.

We saw abandoned buildings throughout the Prairie. This was a pretty big group, so thought I'd use it to represent the scene.
We did finally leave Montana, without seeing nearly all we thought we could fit in!

There is very little left of the Glacier's at Glacier NP (thanks to global warming). The sky was getting very overcast and the clouds were crowding in on us at this point.
Heading into the Park from the West Entrance, McDonnald Lake is the first major landmark. It is a very long lake. In 2004 there was a terrible fire, damage is still very visible.
A nice change from the usual graffiti mess.
