Jeepneys are synonymous with the Philippines. They are remnants of WWII Willy's that are specially decorated by their owners. No two jeepneys are alike. They are the main form of transportation in the Philippines and they are EVERYWHERE. They would be the equivalent of the VW buses that the Hippies used back in the days. Some are heavily decorated while this one is simple and elegant (in its own way). A jeepney ride will cost you between 10-20 PHP (less than $.50).
I'm amazed at the role that public transportation (buses, Tube) plays in London. These things are everywhere!!

The monks of the Thien Mu Pagoda in Hue, Vietnam have displayed the car that Thích Quảng Đức drove to the spot of his self-immolation. Thích Quảng Đức's ultimate protest action in Saigon in 1963 brought international attention to the repressive persecution of Buddhists by the regime then ruling South Vietnam.
